Business Insurance Part 1: Liability Insurance

When starting a new business there are so many important tasks to keep in mind. One that some new business owners may not give enough consideration to is business insurance.

Like any important asset, your business is something that will need protection. But what kinds of insurance should be considered? What kinds of insurance are offered? In this, the first of three posts in this series, we will look at the different kinds of business insurance to help you decide what is right for you.

The first type of insurance we will look at is liability insurance. Humans will make mistakes, and whether it’s you, your employees or some other aspect of your business, you’ll want to make sure that those mistakes don’t spell the end of everything you’ve been working hard for. Liability insurance can make sure that your business is protected in the event of a lawsuit, Insurances that fall under this category include:

  • General liability – coverage of injury to clients or employees while on your premises.
  • Product liability – coverage in the event of a product that is either defective or causes harm to the user.
  • Professional liability insurance – coverage in the event of a lawsuit from a client for errors, omissions or negligence related to professional services.
